In this article, we first examine the roots of the emergence of the concept of compactness. Then, we explore the crucial impact and the key to the possibility of moving from an arbitrary open cover to a finite subcover in the proof of an important modern analysis theorem to make the philosophy behind the definition of compactness more apparent. Finally, we review the history of compression theory with a focus on pointwise compression and the Stone-Čech compression. با توجه به تاثیر به‌سزای مفهوم فشردگی در ریاضیات پیشرفته و اهمیت درک درست و مناسب این مفهوم برای ورود به ریاضیات مدرن، به نظر می‌رسد مطالعه ریشه‌ها، آغاز شکل‌گیری و مسیر توسعه آن، لازم و مفید باشد. در این مقاله، ابتدا ریشه‌های پیدایش مفهوم فشردگی را مورد بررسی قرار می‌دهیم. سپس، تاثیر مهم و راه‌گشای امکان رسیدن از یک پوشش باز دلخواه به یک زیرپوشش متناهی، در اثبات امروزی حکمی مهم از آنالیز مطالعه می‌شود تا فلسفه‌ پشت تعریف فشردگی، آشکارتر گردد. در پایان، تاریخچه‌ای از نظریه فشرده‌سازی با تمرکز بر فشرده‌سازی‌های تک نقطه‌ای و استون-چخ بررسی می‌شود. https://math-sci.ui.ac.ir/article_23134_7bf4a8bcd5e40703008d9ca9f4aa56a1.pdf
